Form F Assessors

We’re currently looking for qualified social workers to carry out Form F assessments on prospective foster carers in the following areas:

  • Devon

Panel Members

The decision to approve a foster carer’s application is a detailed responsibility. One we take very seriously.

The fostering panel is an integral and essential part of our service. They make recommendations to the agency on the assessments of applicants and comprehensive reviews of foster carers. Panel membership includes a range of members from diverse backgrounds and will as far as possible reflect the local community.

Applicants must be able to contribute to all fostering panel functions including; making recommendations on the assessment and approval of foster carer applicants, foster carer reviews and terminations of approval and be able to demonstrate a thorough and robust approach to assessing written information. You must have had experience either professionally or personally or both of the placement of children in foster care. There will be some additional requirements for some Panel Members such as a social work qualification.

  • Panel Members receive induction and training and will be appraised annually.
  • Applicants will receive panel paperwork electronically so should have secure access to a laptop (or similar).
  • Applicants must live within reasonable travelling distance of panel, expenses are provided for travel and payment for preparation and attendance at panel.
  • All applicants will be required to undertake a DBS check as part of the interview process.

FOSTERING PANEL CHAIR – SOUTH WEST ENGLAND

Pathway Care is a Fostering Agency that is fully committed to providing high quality foster placements for children. We invest huge effort and energy in achieving high standards of care and in doing all we can to achieve positive outcomes for the children we look after. This includes thorough Form F assessments of applicants and comprehensive reviews of foster carers.

The Fostering Panel is an integral and essential part of our service and we are seeking a new Fostering Panel Chair for our South West region.

Panel meetings are currently convened at our Ashburton Office in Devon or at our Bristol Office and meet approximately once each month. Applicants must be available to participate in panel meetings from 9.30am-4.30pm. They will also need sufficient time for preparation before meetings and to undertake work afterwards, such as consideration of minutes.

Applicants must live within reasonable travelling distance of the panel meeting venues and wherever possible will be recruited from the local region.

The Panel Chair must be able to prepare for panel meetings, identifying key issues and working with the panel advisor if necessary, to ensure items are ready for consideration at panel. The Panel Chair must ensure all members contribute fully to all panel functions and that clear and accurate minutes are written.

Applicants will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Applicants must have a good understanding and awareness of the needs of looked after children and the issues affecting them and to have acquired this professionally through employment in child care social work.

Specifically, the Panel Chair will need:

  • A social work qualification e.g. DipSW or CQSW
  • Experience of chairing complex meetings where various views are expressed
  • The ability, if needed, to lead a meeting with appropriate authority and tactfulness
  • The ability to identify areas of strength as well as those of concern and maintain a strong safeguarding focus
  • Experience of, and a commitment to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in foster care
  • Knowledge of the fostering process and practice and the legislative framework for the work of panel

Expenses are provided for travel and payment for preparation for and attendance at Panel meetings.
