Pathway Care Midlands Christmas Party

08.12.11

Santa

On Sunday 27th of November, on a clear crisp day, the first of the Christmas parties for Pathway Care carers and the children they foster took place.

People began arriving in a steady stream and Ann and Judith were kept busy making sure everyone had a cuppa or squash and was settled in. Santa’s elves were well represented by Jayne and Katie who along with Rachel had organised the day.

Chris the entertainer amazed children and adults alike with some table magic before the party got started and as soon as everyone had arrived the party began. Chris is the consummate entertainer and with a mixture of magic, panto like banter and total child involvement, the fun began for the 120 that attended.

Soon children were being rewarded for their involvement and the shy children  were helped and supported by their carers to enjoy the various activities. Collapsing wands, balloons, magic and banter were the order of the day.

When it was time for the traditional snowman competition where willing victims, sorry, volunteers, are dressed and draped in loo paper until completely white all over; the loudest shout of approval confirmed Katie as the winner by miles.

Then it was party food time and that moment when young children with a wide open dance floor just race around and slide along the floor because they can.

The party was rounded off with a special prize giving where the winners of the ‘design a Christmas card’ competition were rewarded for their efforts with their designs being made into personalised Christmas cards and mugs.

The moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived and Santa began giving out presents to all the children. With balloon swords issued, fencing competitions broke out around the room as Santa worked his way through Rachel’s list.

All too soon the party was over and Santa left to go to his next party. The Foster Carers took their excited but tired charges home and the clearing up began. With another successful Christmas party completed we once again acknowledge the hard work and organisation put in by our family outreach workers, well done Jayne, Rachel and Katie, the Pathway Care staff.

 Merry Christmas everybody.
