Blues Team show Community Spirit - Midlands
16.05.11

Pathway Care (Midlands) is ‘kicking-off’ it’s new ‘Love to Make a Difference’ campaign with the Blues team ‘on-side.’
The new Pathway Care slogan is designed to inspire a new generation of foster carers in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. There are currently some 10,000 children in local authority care across the UK.
Blues striker Kevin Phillips commented: “It’s my pleasure to lend my support to this appeal and if anyone is interested in becoming a foster carer please get in touch with Pathway Care.”
Pathway Care Regional Director Joyce Masson commented: “We are very grateful to Birmingham City lending their name to our campaign. We approached the club because we feel its values mirror many of the facets needed for foster care. The club is community focused with loyal fans, families and friends coming together to support their team on match days.
“Fostering is similar in many ways as it’s about good management, teamwork, dedication and having the best interests of your team at heart,” she said. “We are also hoping that some of the Blues supporters may step forward to find out more about fostering.”
Pathway Care Recruitment Officer Will Edwards added: “It is vital to recruit more foster carers who are able to provide a safe and supportive environment for children currently in care.
“Foster carers receive excellent remuneration and expenses and the role offers an excellent career opportunity at a time when substantial job losses are likely to take place across the Midlands over the coming months. Fostering could offer a real financial lifeline to both single carers and family units.
“Foster carers come from all walks of life. Some possess transferable skills gained from a variety of work ranging from caring for the elderly, or people with disabilities, teaching assistants, retired police officers or coming from a background in the armed services. Others have enjoyed a very good life and want to improve the lives of others less fortunate than themselves,” he concluded.
